Its LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification program sets national standards for environmentally responsible construction.
At The Daumier, a professional LEED consultant worked with the design and construction teams to implement strategies that conserve energy, water, and materials — from selecting locally sourced products to encouraging walkability and transit use.

What is LEED for Homes?
LEED for Homes is the certification program specifically created for residential developments. It measures performance in eight categories:
-
Innovation & Design Process
-
Location & Linkages
-
Sustainable Sites
-
Water Efficiency
-
Energy & Atmosphere
-
Materials & Resources
-
Indoor Environmental Quality
-
Awareness & Education
Points are awarded in each category, leading to four certification levels:
Certified (35–49 points), Silver (50–64), Gold (65–79), and Platinum (80–136).
The Daumier is pursuing LEED Gold certification.

-
Recycling & Waste Reduction: Over 76% of construction waste was recycled or reused.
-
Indoor Air Quality Management: Air ducts were sealed during construction and flushed before occupancy to ensure clean indoor air.
-
Low-VOC Materials: Paints, adhesives, flooring, and carpets were all selected to reduce harmful emissions.
-
Locally Sourced Materials: Many products — such as framing, cabinetry, and drywall — were produced locally to reduce transportation emissions.
-
Energy-Efficient Design: Light-colored concrete and reflective roofing minimize heat absorption and improve building energy performance.
-
Drought-Resistant Landscaping: Non-invasive, drought-tolerant plants and a high-efficiency irrigation system conserve water and support local ecology.
