The Community Assistant is a part-time student position that requires one to serve in the capacity as a Daumier resource that demonstrates integrity, intelligence, passion, and the ability to lead and communicate effectively. The Community Assistant will also serve as a peer educator and assistant to guide residents with personal growth and academic development. Community Assistants will be selected based on their prior roles of experiences when it comes to leadership, communication, teamwork, how to build a strong sense of awareness and community, and most importantly demonstrating a willingness to learn and have positive behavior.
Qualifications to be a CA:
Current Western University of Health Sciences student in good judicial and academic standing
Have lived at The Daumier for a least one semester
Be in good judicial and financial standing at The Daumier.
This student position is anticipated to work an average of 20-25 hours a week. The community assistant position will require the student to work in the capacity of completing their on-call responsibilities, to complete 2 hours in the office, meetings, plan for programs / create flyers, and administrative responsibilities. There is also the opportunity to work for additional hours over break periods, including summer.
Community Assistants will be paid $13 an hour for hours worked. This is given as an employee discount applied to your housing fee through your Daumier Resident Portal account. If any office hours are worked, you will be compensated for the number of hours.
The number of hours will be paid based on the following:
Monday – Friday: 2 hours for every on-call weekday shift
Saturday: 3 hours for every on-call weekend shift
Sunday: 4 hours for every on-call weekend shift
Holidays: 5 hours for when the office is closed
